An Intern’s Intern
by Brandon
As this is my first foray into the blogosphere, I find it appropriate to introduce myself. My name is Brandon Price, and I am the marketing intern for the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE).
Follow up:
For the last 9 months, I have mainly worked on helping to develop and promote our internship web site, NEOintern.net. For those that don’t know, NEOintern is a completely free service that helps to connect Northeast Ohio employers to students.Throughout my time here, and through my experience as a Kent State student, I have come to realize the high value of internships. As the world gets smaller, and the workforce gets more competitive, students need every advantage they can get when trying to find a job. More and more, employers won’t even consider a student for a position if they have no relevant experience, even if they have a good GPA or other qualifications.
When I see friends of mine graduate and struggle to find a job, even though they are intelligent, hardworking people with good GPA’s, it makes me wonder what went wrong. I’ve had several of my friends tell me that they wish they would have pursued an internship, and are almost certain their current situation would be different if they had. It’s because of this that it is a personal mission of mine to help students find and complete internships.
With this blog, I hope I can do just that.
