Myth: There aren’t any internships in Northeast Ohio
by Halley
I have heard students convinced that the reason they don’t have an internship is because there just aren’t any out there.
Follow up:
I wonder where these students are looking, because I get calls from employers every day who are looking for internships.
And, even in this current economic situation – actually, many times, because of this current economic situation – employers are looking for MORE interns. Sure, it helps that interns often cost less than full-time employees. But, from an employer’s perspective, internships can be a very cost-effective method of recruiting, too. And everyone is looking to save some time and money if they can. The downturn in the economy just makes this thriftiness more urgent.
So – what is my proof? As of today, there are 127 internships open at www.neointern.net. Right now, the two types of internships most in demand are marketing and information technology.
Not a marketing or computer science major? Check out the other opportunities online. If you don’t see what you are looking for, let me know. It’s my job to help develop these internships at local organizations – so don’t be afraid to ask for help.
