Getting Credit

Although you may not know it, your internship may qualify for class credit. Each college or university has its own requirements on what qualifies an internship for credit, and it can even vary within the various departments and majors.
Follow up:
Some employers require interns to obtain class credit for their internship, and some encourage it. But some employers are not aware that students can receive credit for an internship, or aren’t sure of how to go about it. So, it’s your responsibility to find out if you can receive credit, and then ensure that you do.
There are many advantages to obtaining credit for an internship:
o Transcript notation
o Credit towards degree completion
o Involvement with college faculty/staff
Students should check with their career services department and/or their department chair to find more information about receiving credit for an internship.
