Environmental Sustainability Internships
by Halley
There is a lot of talk in the business community about “being green” (and I’m not talking about Kermit the Frog here) and “sustainability”. This is more than a passing fad, and most likely something that is important to a lot of you on a personal level, too. If you are interested in doing more to help the environment than recycling and taking your own reusable shopping bags to the grocery store, I have a suggestion. Consider using the skills you are learning in the classroom and applying them in an environmental sustainability internship.
Follow up:
NOCHE is currently implementing (through this web site, www.neointern.net) an environmental sustainability internship program to create opportunities for interested students to help the environment while gaining valuable career experience. And you don’t have to be an environmental science major to qualify. We need all kinds of students – biology to business, communications to chemistry, political science to physics. There are lots of organizations that are looking to improve their sustainability, and they need lots of different skills to make that a reality.
If you are interested in the sustainability movement in Northeast Ohio, I suggest you check out Entrepreneurs for Sustainability’s web site at www.e4s.org. And if you are interested in an environmental sustainability internship, stay tuned to this blog for information on upcoming events to help you meet employers. And if you are anxious to be considered for one of these positions, email me your resume at hmarsh@noche.org – but do us all a favor and have someone from career services review it before you send it to me!
