Halley says goodbye!
by Halley
After more than two and half years, I am leaving NOCHE and NEOintern to join a medical equipment distributor as their director of marketing. I wanted to share with you how I found my new job, in the hopes that you will try something similar to find your internship, if you are struggling to find one.
Follow up:
The economy in the last year has made it rather difficult to find open jobs, let alone to be successfully hired for one. There are many people looking for work that have been looking for some time. So, imagine my surprise, when this job came looking for me. I was actually teaching a workshop on how employers can maximize their return on intern, when an employer was talking about the work that they needed done by an intern. When I spoke to this employer during a break over a cup of coffee, I mentioned that this seemed liked too much work for an intern, and that I, in fact, knew this because it was very similar to work I had done at my previous jobs.
We continued talking over the coming weeks, and this small employer decided to add a director of marketing position. They originally were considering a part-time marketing student, and instead decided to create a full-time position!
By looking for work that needs to be completed, talking to the employers about it, and then justifying why you think that (based on a class you took or some experience that you have), it could very well lead to internship or full-time job opportunities.
